Fit for a Princess
Aivlene is now 2 1/2, which means she is bossy, can poop on the potty, is bossy and has very clear ideas on what she likes. She likes princesses. She is all girl. My heart has been warmed and I am so very glad I asked and begged and did the hibbity-dibbity A LOT for this child. Have I mentioned that she is very bossy and loves all things princess?
She has also warmed her father's cold heart and she wants a princess room. Go here and look at these pictures. Rachael is one of my oldest and bestest Internet friends and I have asked her and her sister to adopt me into their family because they always have fun and have the cutest kids. Rachael also takes the best pictures AND gives the best MySpace comments. She has re-done her kids rooms and I now have room envy.
I need help making a princess room. I don't know where to start all I know is that I don't want a lot of Disney Princess stuff, not because I am not down with Disney and the princesses because um, Hi! Disney if you read this and want to give me a vacation and maybe throw some Cinderella stuff my way, I will totally sell you my soul and my 2004 Chevy Venture. I just want a really cool room.
She has plain white walls right now with god-awful mauve carpeting because when we were building our house I had a fit of madness. I couldn't choose a neutral color because I am scared of light colors with my three kids. We were able to choose three different colors for the kids room because we up-graded our carpets but we were limited in colors, so mauve it was. I have set my heart on Valspar's Brushed Pearl faux finish because nothing says princess like Brushed Pearl. It also has a three step process which is bound to drive me crazy while attempting it with three kids underfoot.
I give you this challenge Internet, help me design a super-cool princess room for Aivlene. She's two. She's bossy. She can poop in a potty. She loves Sindawella (Cinderella). I am also open for a nice trip to Disney World and free Disney goods. I can give away a 2004 Chevy Venture that sucks the soul out of 31 year old women and maybe a Beagle-Jack Russell terrier that may be retarded.
Go at it, yo.
Just thank god she didnt want a Dora room!!!! when I watch that show cus Sami loves it and now wears a back pack!!! I just cant get over that Dora's clothes dont match!!!!!

Find someone who has a projector and an image of a nice clean castle. Project the image on a wall, trace, fill it in with paint, and do yourself up a mural. It's not as complicated as it sounds, I swear!
IKEA has some good princess stuff in the kid's area. It's not Disney, but some of it would work well for filler.

Thanks for a shout out! Those rooms are only thanks to my mom for painting the murals. I would suggest Ikea too, they have tons of princess stuff. Also eBay, you can find so much cheap crap. That is where more of the boys decor came from. Google company kids, they always have cute stuff and its mildly affordable.
Make sure to post pictures when you finish! Good luck!

I just stumbles across your blog from Burgh Baby, so I'm a bit late.
Do you want the inside or outside of the castle?
The projector and castle thing works great if you want the outside of the castle.
If you want the inside then draw windows with the view of the moat and mountains and stream or whatever that is outside the castle.
Pick up a styrophome or balsa wood circle (like the ones used for needlepoint, but bigger - about a foot in diameter), get some lace from the fabric store of your choice - hang the circle from the ceiling above the head of her bed, drape the lace down around the headboard for a princessly bed. If you don't want the princess sheets, get a pink/lavender whatever princess color she loves sheets and a darker comforter. you can also close her bedroom door and from the inside draw the big castle doors around her door - open with a view of the drawbridge and moat and whatever else the princess might view outside of her castle. Oh matching lace for curtains works well too.
If you go with a color that matches the mauve carpeting you can keep it and make it work too!
